  	Ralph Dean Widener, age 64, of Damascus, died Friday, March 12, 1999 in Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mr. Widener was a native of Washington County and had lived in Pocahontas for 33 years before returning to Damascus in 1991. He retired from American Electric Power Company in 1995, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. He was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife, Elwanda "Wanda" Widener; one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Ann and Bob Moore Jr. of Damascus; three brothers, Samuel Widener and Jerry Widener, both of Damascus, Paul G. Widener Jr. of Glade Spring; one brother-in-law, Herbert Cook; two sisters-in-law, Eula Widener and Dawn Widener; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 14, at 2 p.m. in Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Warren Wilson, the Rev. Harry Layell and the Rev. Gary Ritchie officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 165 E. Main St., Abingdon, VA 24210. Johnson Funeral Home in Damascus was in charge of arrangements.
