    • Lamenthia (Ment) Widener Sr., of Roanoke, Va., was born on April 28, 1922, and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 6, 2015. He was a World War II veteran, 32nd degree Mason, an avid fisherman, and long-time member of Hollins Road Baptist Church.
      He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 68 years, Margaret Sanders Widener; and daughter, Sandra Widener Bowling.
      He is survived by his daughter, Kathy W. Firebaugh and husband, Tommy; son, (Sonny) Lamenthia Widener Jr. and wife, Deborah and extended family, son, Joseph W. Widener; son-in-law, Thomas Bowling; grandchildren, Jayson Firebaugh and wife, Angela, Kimberly Ann Gresham and husband, Kevin, Joseph A. Widener and Dylan Widener; great-granddaughter, Lenae N. King; great-grandson, Brandon Firebaugh; great-great-grandson, Alexander King; and sister, Essie Bobbitt.
      The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, PCU and long time physician, Dr. Anthony Stavola, for their exceptional care and compassion.
      Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Mark Washington and the Rev. Chips Doyle officiating. The interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237. www.oakeys.com
